Project 2b

Travel Poster

This week we got the chance to create a Travel Poster, and we learned about design briefing. I decided to choose Barcelona because that has always been on my list of places to go one day. The audience I decided to reach was 25-35yrs, a group who is looking for some good food, adventure, and dancing. This traveler is not necessarily the one who is committed to going to museums and filling a tour guide around. I am targeting the person who wants to immerse themself into the culture.

In Spain, they are known for tapas, paella, seafood, and sangria. As well as the beautiful beaches, and architecture. Flamenco dancing is ver popular as well, and just a nightlife worth experiencing. That inspired this idea, and I wanted to convey a fun yet relaxing vacation ahead. Anyone wanting to break away from the mundane day to day work life we have here in the States. In Spain they have a siesta, a mid day nap, right before dinner time. Which is how I got my call to action. "Enjoy a siesta, before the fiesta"
My design consists of blues accompanied with warm tones to represent the tranquility of the waters and moment of relaxation. As well as the warm colors to represent the delicious food and fun, bold night life. I wanted to add more food and maybe even a guitar but I felt it became too busy of a design.

I learned that thumbnails and roughs are very important to have, it can be overwhelming without them. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm starting to get more comfortable with masking. Making everything look like one image rather than 5 different images on one paper. Playing with textures really gave it that cohesive feeling  for my design as well as some playing with the camera raw filter.
