 This Week in Design Theory 

    This week has been a good first week getting into Design Theory,  and getting to dust off my photoshop knowledge. Having a refresher on a little color theory, and really diving deep into the design process. Creating a business card was a fun project, I feel like I have a better understanding the use of type faces as well. I do have to admit the typography chapter in our book was a bit overwhelming, and I will need to spend a little more time trying to grasp all the term in typography. Also the first blog post on creativity was an exercise I enjoyed as well, Im excited to learn more about blogging. Or just spending more time blogging. 

    The use of color is so important, and the impact it can have in everyday life is amazing. I do wish I read my book before creating my business card and had a better understanding of the design process it self. There are so many questions to ask yourself before sitting down and just designing, which is what I did. I did have intention for my color choices, although my typeface choices at first came from my preference rather than finding the tone I wanted to portray. Also I did not consider the fact that empathy was such a huge part of designing for clients, and that I can appreciate. 

    Typography was a whole other animal for me, I never knew there was so much information that really went into typefaces. There will be plenty of times I will have to refer back to my book and study a bit harder in that aspect because I really feel like most of it went over my head the first time reading that chapter. It was the terms that over whelmed me honestly, but with time and repetition it will all come to me. Then talking about the subject won't be so overwhelming, 

    The creativity blog we did was another fun project, I really felt like I was writing in my journal. Blogging has always been something I wanted to try but never applied myself and having them required for class will just help start the consistency I need. Also brushing up on my writing skills, making sure what I am writing is not boring. This is going to be a great outlet for me in the future, I can already tell. 

    I am very excited for the next projects we have coming up, and to really get my feet in the waters of design. Not being so intimidated by the world of type and color. I am really ready to learn more and see what this class brings my way. As well as meeting some like minded people along the way. I feel that it's going to be fun learning about all of this CRAP.
