 What I Learned This Week

Adobe's Ai had my Mind Warped 

 This week was very exciting to me, having my work on a magazine cover has always been a dream of mine. So this project I dug into some of my old work to find something I could see on a cover. We also touched on a ton of photoshop tools that I really needed a refresh on. Before this class I haven't touched photoshop since like 2018, so I enjoyed the lectures this week. In my old work I only ever did minimal edits due to my fear of masking and adding too many adjustments. This week gave me a better understanding on how each tool works, as well as more ideas on how I would use them in the future. Learning about Adobe Firefly was so much fun to play with and will be something I will be using for personal projects.

    Admittedly, firefly is the first Ai program I have ever played with, so when the wheels started turning it was hard to stop. Before I realized we had to use an actual magazine, my mind started creating different concepts and ideas. I was going to do something in the Sci Fi realm, and really do something out of my comfort zone. Some of the art I created with firefly was too good not to share in my opinion so I will leave you with some to see. From apocalyptic scenes to mystical photos, honestly struggling with who I even wanted my audience to be.. This is what happens since I didn't sit down and do my design brief before creating. 

    

    The one thing we went over in class that was so necessary was typography! I think I actually have an understanding on the basic terms we will be using, so now when someone talks about a serif I wont be so lost. Also learning the actual difference between a type face and a font was another lightbulb for me. There will be more type families being added to my device now that we went over that as well! Typography was a whole new world to me when we first had to read the chapter, I read the chapter but didn't retain it, so it felt good listening to the lecture in class. Still have a lot to learn in that aspect, but no long lost! 

    Its crazy we are coming up to week 4 already, it really flew by! We have learned so much and it feels like we just scratched the surface. This was my first design class and I am proud of what I have created so far, its going to be exciting to see the future projects and designs we get to create coming up. We have some very talented people in our class and its going to be awesome seeing us all grow as designers and how our styles grow as well!
