Project 4: Movie Poster

The Otherside

    For this project I chose to create my own movie title and I tried using an original image. Thriller, horror, and paranormal movies were always my favorite! The movie title I chose is The Otherside, and the imagery brings a ghostly feel to it. The type I used was a bit decorative, to give it an occult feeling. I used a heavy contrast to give it an uneasy feel, as well as a mysterious feel. It was a bit of a challenge creating a new movie, there were so many options to choose from, for the subject of the poster. 

    Some struggles, other than my indecision, was using a main subject that was original. A lot of the content I wanted to shoot was weather permitting, which put a damper in the creative process. Although for the thumbnails I didn't have a chance to shoot, I did turn to Ai to help out. That was a great tool to help with what wasn't shot by me. I did end up using a photo I shot with some generative fill in photoshop. Another struggle was just CRAP, and really bringing everything together to create a harmony between all of the elements used. 

    The final piece really turned out for me and I'm happy with the results. The poster feels like it could catch a viewer's eye, draw them in, and leave them wanting more. My viewer would absolutely be paranormal fans, the ones who enjoy a good ghost story with a little witchy twist. Maybe expecting some gore and jump scares. What better release date than having it be on Halloween day? I'll be waiting on the release of your movies as well.
