Designing Emotion

The Exercise: Designing Emotion

In class this week , we got a chance to choose a song and create an image that represents the overall emotion of the song. Our client would be the record label looking for an image that promotes the emotional impact of the song.

My Process: Indecision, music on repeat, and designing what came to mind.

When listening to my music it was difficult to pin point one song, so I did take my time on two songs to design a piece for. As I designed I played the song on a loop a few times to really get the feeling of the song itself. I've always been a visualizer, so when listening to the song I could picture different images that I wanted to incorporate into the final piece.

What I learned: Focusing on one thing, and don't take things so literal.

Once I got to my final designs, I realized that one was an illustration of the title and the other was an interpretation of the emotion of the song. That is how I ended up making the decision to used this for my final image. I learned that I shouldn't have been so afraid to play more with brushes and create something more abstract. I get a little uneasy about painting on photoshop still and need more practice. Although I am still please with what I came up with.

Moving Forward: Take more risks and go for it!

The best way to get over that uneasy feeling is by working on it and going for it.
