Week 2: Design

What I Learned this Week.

    
    As the weeks go by so quickly, I am reminded that designing really is my happy place. There is opportunity everywhere for designers and I find myself taking on not only school work but a few side projects as well. My grandma will be selling some of her handmade wreaths and decorations at different craft shows and I had the opportunity help her with making card and taking photos. We opened an Etsy shop and Instagram. It has been a slow take off but I am sure we will get her some exposure. Also my job is a small business with an owner that is open to my ideas and designs. He has been very encouraging and shows me different techniques he uses to create ads, menus, and many other things he uses for his store. I want to be confident in my work so when it’s time to put together a portfolio, I have more than just my class work to add to it. My portfolio has been on my mind a lot lately, I’m determined to have a strong portfolio even though it’s a while alway. Doing something I love as a job has always been a dream of mine and I feel a lot closer to it recently. I’m still not sure where design will take me but I do feel like I’m on the correct path, which is exactly what I came to Florida looking for. I’m very grateful to be where I am and being able to continue my education and really apply myself with a clear mind this time around.
