 Amore Amor

The moment you step onto the patio of Amore Amor, the scent of saltwater drifts in from the bay, mingling with the rich aroma of garlic and simmering seafood. The warm Florida breeze carries the soft strumming of a Spanish guitar, its notes curling through the air like whispered promises. Red flowers bloom in bursts of color against the lush green foliage, framing the entrance like a scene from a Mediterranean dream.

Inside, the restaurant hums with life. Wooden tables, smooth with age and candlelit with flickering warmth, stretch beneath arched ceilings that echo the romance of Spain and Italy. You are instantly transported, forgetting you’re in Florida. Soft red accents—velvet drapes, painted ceramic vases, the deep hue of a well-aged bottle of Garnacha—tie the space together, creating an ambiance that feels both intimate and celebratory. The air is thick with the scent of crushed tomatoes, roasted peppers, and the unmistakable brine of fresh seafood sizzling in olive oil. The open-air kitchen is lively and keeps the flavors flowing.

I take a seat on the patio just in time for sunset, watching as the sky ignites in streaks of amber, crimson, and violet. The water reflects the fiery hues, shimmering with every gentle ripple. Sitting next to a lovely fountain, with the sound of water flowing in compliment
to the gulf waters crashing. A glass of Spanish Tempranillo arrives at my table, deep and velvety with just a whisper of spice, complementing the plate before me—a beautifully plated seafood dish of saffron-infused risotto, studded with plump shrimp and delicate rings of calamari. The flavors are a perfect balance of land and sea, kissed by the heat of garlic and finished with a drizzle of herbaceous olive oil.

The laughter of families and lovers blends with the clink of wine glasses, the scrape of silverware against plates full of pasta and paella. Here, meals are shared the way they should be, family-style, with hands reaching, stories spilling, and plates never truly empty. A waiter, dressed in a white button up and black slacks, passes by with a steaming dish of saffron-infused risotto, the golden grains shimmering beneath tender shrimp. Across the room, a couple leans into each other over a shared slice of torrija tiramisu, their whispered conversation lost beneath the next swell of music. Celebrating the engagement ring floating in their glass of Cava. While the family at the next table over is indulging in stories of their lives, sharing a charcuterie board and a bottle of Chianti.

As the last traces of sunset fade into a deep, velvety night, the patio transforms under the glow of soft lanterns and the moon’s reflection on the bay. The warmth of the evening lingers as my dessert arrives—churro cannoli, a brilliant fusion of Spanish and Italian indulgence. Crisp, golden churro shells encase a silky mascarpone filling, dusted with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with dark chocolate. With each bite, the flavors dance between the bold sweetness of Spain and the creamy elegance of Italy, a perfect closing note to the evening.

Outside, the water glows under the moonlight, and the patio is alive with conversation, the scent of fresh basil and charred lemon drifting in the evening air. It’s the kind of place that makes time slow, where every bite, every sip, and every shared glance feels like part of something timeless. At Amore Amor, love isn’t just in the name; it’s in the air, the food, and the way the night lingers just a little longer, like a song you never want to end.
